Loss

Monday, April 25th, 2016

Prince was an amazing performer, incredibly proliferative song writer, who allowed himself to be unique, and showed unfettered artistic self-expression.

May we all let ourselves be free enough from self-judgment to strut our stuff, show our flavors, and risk stretching beyond the norm to express the deepest most colorful parts of our own beings.

So many people are reeling from the news of his sudden death and feeling the loss from his passing.  He was an influential and positive force in our time.

As we honor Prince and all his amazing achievements…I believe it is in taking what we’ve learned from his example and the inspirations from his music to help us all “get through this thing called life” with as much flair and funk as he did.

Thank you Prince for all you gave to us.

Celebrating My Mother

Monday, April 18th, 2016

We had a family reunion to celebrate my mother’s birthday this past weekend.

My mother has always nurtured me, cared for me, supported and encouraged me throughout my life.
I feel so grateful and blessed to still be sharing life with her, and to now be able to return some of her caring and love through our celebration of her.

As she often says, “You reap what you sow.”
My mother has reaped a garden of abundant love from me whose bounty is endless.

Happy birthday to my wonderful mum!  I love you

Life’s moments

Monday, April 11th, 2016

There is a bittersweet feeling that I have about my youngest child growing up and going off to college in the fall.

While I feel so blessed that he is moving along in his life as is appropriate for him, I feel a twinge knowing that our days of living together are forever changing soon.

I am so proud of the young man he is, as I am of his older siblings as well.

Some of the emotion feels like it is coming from acknowledging this phase of motherhood is coming to a close for me now.  I started out as a stay at home mother, and continue to relish every moment I have had with my children as they have been growing up.

A part of me longs for the days when they easily fit in my arms, and I was the center of their world.

And yet now is a time for me to let them go, while always giving them the space of love to lean into on me.
It is also a time now for me to live my life to the fullest and continue to be an example for them as they evolve more and more into themselves.

Life’s moments.  Life’s cycles.

Trusting the Process

Monday, April 4th, 2016

Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, and often you find yourself feeling things you may not have anticipated in response to what’s happening in your world.

It is important to honor yourself, respect yourself, and allow yourself the freedom to be wherever you find you are.  It is equally important to trust the journey of where life is leading you.

Rather than resist or struggle against where you find yourself, if you can relax into the journey – both within yourself and in your world – you will be able to surf the wave of life, flow with the current, and reveal all the gifts and gems being offered along the ride.
